Women to Watch in 2025: A Global Wake-Up Call for Venture Capital

2025 is already shaping up to be a defining year for the next wave of female entrepreneurs — despite the numbers telling a complex story.
In the United States, startup valuations for female-founded companies rose across all stages in 2024. The number of female-led exits also increased. But here’s the catch: women-only founding teams still captured just 1% of total venture capital investment — a steep drop from 2% in 2023. In Europe, it was even lower, with female-founded startups receiving just 0.5% of the capital deployed, compared to 1.8% the year before.
Let that sink in: less than 1% of capital is reaching the women who are solving real-world problems, building bold brands, and driving economic value.
And yet, the momentum is undeniable. In 2024, US startups with at least one female founder raised nearly $46 billion, and 13 new female-founded unicorns were minted — a powerful signal of what’s ahead. VCs are paying attention. New funds are emerging. Ecosystems are expanding.
But in 2025, the landscape will be shaped not just by numbers — but by resolve.
With political headwinds (particularly in the US) putting DEI-focused investing under scrutiny, European markets — including Poland — have a rare chance to lead. To fund what others might overlook. To prove that inclusion isn’t just an ethical stance, it’s a competitive advantage.
Why This Matters for Poland in 2025
Poland has the talent. The startups. The innovation infrastructure. What we need now is visibility and capital alignment. Female-founded companies across Poland — whether in agritech, health, AI, climate tech, or circular economy — are not lacking vision. They’re lacking VC backing.
In 2025, the smartest investors won’t just chase the loudest founders. They’ll spot the overlooked value. They’ll fund the thinkers, the builders, and the disruptors — regardless of gender.
This isn’t a call for charity. It’s a call for bold, data-backed investing.
